Value Stream Manager - Graphics

Pantone LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary or X-Rite Incorporated, a Danaher Company, is seeking an experience Value Stream Manager for our Graphics Division location in Carlstadt, NJ. The objective of this role will be to set and lead the achievement of Graphics operational and supply chain objectives for the PANTONE site. Responsible for managing and driving results for Graphics operations, including manufacturing, production planning and scheduling, quality control, and supply chain in support of safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost / productivity targets (SQDIP). This specifically includes the implementation of Lean Manufacturing processes and the development of a Lean organization.

I. SCOPE AND IMPACT OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position significantly impacts the Company’s ability to be globally competitive in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth. This position is also instrumental in the development of a base of Company associates with a solid understanding of our operating philosophy. This position is a key leadership position within the Company, with high visibility, ideally suited to candidates with long-term promotability to a Director of Operations or General Manager position after achieving sustainable results at Pantone.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all areas of Graphics operations (manufacturing, supply chain, quality control, and production scheduling/planning). Communicate progress through focused meetings with staff and Director of Operations.
  • Achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost/Productivity targets through use of Danaher Business System (DBS) methods including active problem solving and Kaizen.
  • Lead improvements in inventory and Purchase Price Variance (PPV) initiatives resulting in positive improvements in working capital and margins.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure inventory and PPV goals are met.
  • Build and develop a World Class Operations team capable of meeting current and future business objectives, to include providing mentoring, career development planning and succession planning for the operations organization.
  • Use human resource processes/sytems for employee performance, development, etc..
  • Understand critical details and drive systemic, prioritized activities for goal achievement.
  • Execute strategic plan and policy deployment through the proper tactical processes, employee engagement and hands-on leadership.
  • Professionally represent Pantone operations in customer-facing interactions.
  • Maintain area, equipment, and facilities to provide and sustain a safe and quality-working environment supportive of maximum efficiency, productivity, and return on investment.

III. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in Operations/Supply Chain Management or Engineering, is desired. MBA is desired.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing management experience within a high mix and metric driven environment, required. Plant/Operations daily management, process development and organizational development experience in a Lean/Pull operations environment, required.
  • Experience with utilizing lean methodology and tools to improve operations, required.
  • Experience in directly managing multiple functions (supply chain, operations, facilities, quality), required.
  • Experience setting and managing to budgets, required.
  • Demonstrated success in a Supply Chain management role to include yearly material savings and inventory goals, required.
  • Experience in a textile dyeing and/or printing operation, desirable.

  • A demonstrated track record of success in manufacturing management within metric driven, stretch goal environment with yearly improvement goals.

  • Detailed understanding of Lean manufacturing tools and concepts with the leadership ability to drive their execution and sustainment.

E-Commerce Manager

The E-Commerce Manager is responsible for managing revenue targets and unit sales performance of the e-commerce business, specifically focusing on Pantone.com and other relevant country or regional e-commerce platforms.

The E-Commerce Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing key revenue driving activities, and providing input for digital advertising, search engine marketing, web optimization, and retargeting programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in e-commerce, digital marketing, and data analytics and thrives in measurement-driven environments.

This role reports to the Americas Sales Director with a dotted line to the EMEA Sales Director and Global E-commerce Lead, and strong working relationships with the marketing, sales operations, and web teams.

Responsibilities

On a daily basis:

  • Update spreadsheets according to company practices, reporting on e-commerce KPIs: revenue, orders, average order value, conversion, traffic (North America websites and 6 websites serving EMEA)
  • Forecast upcoming business by day, month, quarter, and report to Global E-commerce Lead and Regional Sales Directors

On a weekly basis and as needed, perform sales optimization tasks:

  • Spot trends and gaps in KPIs
  • Analyze Google Analytics data and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Work with internal stakeholders to plan, execute, and track promotions to uplift revenue
  • Make recommendations on digital marketing (SEO, Paid Search, CRO, Email Marketing) and site optimization (user experience)
  • Work with web team/search marketing agency to plan and implement site improvements and overall e-commerce enhancements

Requirement/Skills:

  • 5+ years of e-commerce experience in roles with advancing responsibility from companies with similar or higher level of volume and complexity
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics, search engine marketing & retargeting, and e-commerce best practices – including merchandising, funnel analysis, and related disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; the ability to quickly master Excel-based business and reporting tools
  • Strong track record of managing and meeting sales forecasting expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to examine, understand, and report on patterns in data
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field
  • Relevant experience in brand, fashion, graphic art, or design related industries

Digital Product Manager

The Digital Product Manager is responsible to drive profitable growth based on crafting and executing the Pantone digital asset strategy within the Pantone’s overarching brand positioning as the universal language of color. The candidate will use a start-up mindset and digital product management skillset to drive development and launch of breakthrough Pantone digital libraries, ancillary functionality, and ecosystem interfaces to expand the use of the Pantone color systems. This position is for a multi-dimensional person who is passionate about technology, creativity and innovation, as well as grounded in business, strategy and product management in the dynamic world of color and appearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Direction
Define a defensible and differentiated positioning and overall framework that provides meaningful value for the customer base and technology partners, based on:

  • Mapping customer base and identifying most attractive customer segments and applications
  • Understanding the relevant competitive landscape for different verticals and applications
  • Leveraging existing physical and digital color assets and solutions using those assets
  • Flagging ecosystem partners that can expand or reinforce its adoption

Product Roadmap
Create and drive prioritized development of the digital library and functionality roadmaps by

  • Securing an in-depth understanding of customer needs and usage cases
  • Studying Pantone current offering and delivery mechanisms (e.g. own solution, plug-in, API, etc.)
  • Understanding offering and functionality of relevant competitors and close substitutes
  • Understanding of market and technology trends

Product Development Process Leadership
Lead/coordinate the development of new features and products following stage-gate standard processes, including::

  • Steward projects though Accelerated Product Development standard processes
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve objectives and timelines with visual action plans, daily management principles, and kaizen events
  • Validate customer workflows, needs, and barriers through development phases
  • Align project timelines with marketing and sales via launch excellence processes

Revenue Generation
Establish commercial elements to drive revenue generation by providing access to digital libraries and ancillary functionality

  • Define pricing structures, licensing and distribution mechanisms
  • Establish value propositions with monetization models for technology partners and end users
  • Establish business models to enable selling and delivery of products through channels
  • Work with Marketing in creating relevant content to articulate concepts, value props for typical use cases, and distribute for use on applicable channels and verticals

Digital Asset Management
In close partnership with Technical functions, establish guidelines to manage digital colors across verticals and applications, including:

  • Define parameters for color records (master and dependent) and overall architecture
  • Establish process to create, maintain and expand color libraries, both public and private access and usage
  • Build and/or secure relevant intellectual property to manage libraries appropriately
  • Set up permission and licensing mechanisms to enable controlled monetizing of the libraries

Ecosystem Partnerships
Work with Business Development functions, to identify, prioritize, set up and maintain sustainable technology partnerships to drive adoption of digital libraries

  • Within all solutions within Pantone, X-Rite, Esko, MediaBeacon and AVT
  • By systematically reaching to prioritized ecosystem technology leaders
  • By opportunistically working with interested parties

Other Activities

  • Contribute to annual strategic plan process

General Requirements/ Experience:

  • 5+ years experience in product management, product marketing, or product development for digital products
  • Experience in building partnerships and connectivity with technology providers
  • Comfortable and effective interacting with channel partners, customers and end-users, from small settings to large events, with global scale
  • A proven track record of driving profitable revenue and market share growth, demonstrated over a sustained period of time
  • Strong communication skills; sense of urgency; customer focused; adaptive to change; strategic and tactical; continuous improvement mentality; self-starter
  • Knowledge / experience with design market and color expertise, a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or related degree. Advanced degree and/or MBA is preferred.
